Business Unit Overview


Exelon Power is responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining the company's fossil and hydroelectric fleet of generating assets. Exelon Power has a presence in 15 states and Alberta, Canada, and is capable of generating more than 14,500 megawatts of power through a portfolio of 186 hydroelectric, fossil, biomass and landfill gas units, as well as 18 megawatts from two solar plants and nearly 900 megawatts across 38 wind projects. Exelon Power's diverse generating portfolio enables the company to be competitive in the deregulated power market during the intermediate seasons and peak demand periods.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:The Operations & Maintenance Technician operates, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, overhauls, diagnoses, tests and maintains all power plant equipment and systems. Provides environmental and safety stewardship. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures. Keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition. Develops operating and maintenance procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation. Assists in budget planning and control. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operates, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all mechanical, I/C, and electrical equipment as required to support plant operations and maximize shareholder value.Uses computerized maintenance management system to maintain and control work order system spare parts inventory.Assists in budget planning and control.Trains and develops other employees in plant operations, performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Practices situational leadership, environmental and safety stewardship.Leads equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions.Develops operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.Ensures that appropriate safety tagging procedures are followed.Assists in requisitioning parts and supplies. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:Successful completion and passing of the EEI Tech test. Strong aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability and production control. Hands on experience with all aspects of power plant operations and maintenance including some mechanical maintenance, instrument and electrical systems experience, and a strong working knowledge of power cycles. Ability to work in a high performance work system with minimum supervision. Excellent communication and team skills and a working knowledge of Excel and PC based applications.Availability for rotating shift work and overtime as requiredAssociates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics OR HS Diploma with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant TechnologySuccessfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the EEI TECH testAvailability for rotating shift work and overtime as requiredGood oral and written communication skillsBasic computer skillsUnderstanding of power plant printsValid driver's license and access to an insured vehicleAbility to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing and walking long distancesAbility to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
