Business Unit Overview


Exelon Power is responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining the company's fossil and hydroelectric fleet of generating assets. Exelon Power has a presence in 15 states and Alberta, Canada, and is capable of generating more than 14,500 megawatts of power through a portfolio of 186 hydroelectric, fossil, biomass and landfill gas units, as well as 18 megawatts from two solar plants and nearly 900 megawatts across 38 wind projects. Exelon Power's diverse generating portfolio enables the company to be competitive in the deregulated power market during the intermediate seasons and peak demand periods.

Job Description

The Lead Operations & Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the O&M Technician work force and act as a lead for the shift. Lead Technician safely operates, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, overhauls, diagnoses, tests and maintains all power plant equipment and systems. Provides environmental and safety stewardship. Lead Technician ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures. Keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition. Develops operating and maintenance procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation. Valuable non-core level skills are required in the areas of business acumen and project management.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the O&M Technician work force;
2. Operates, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all mechanical, I/C, and electrical equipment as required to support plant operations and maximize shareholder value;
3. Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to identify, plan, and execute work of a corrective or emergent nature. Must use CMMS to procure parts both non-stock and stock and maintain and control work order system spare parts inventory;
4. Assists in budget planning and control;
5. Trains and develops other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities;
6. Leads equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions;
7. Follows operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation;
8. Ensures that appropriate safety procedures are followed;
9. Develops operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.
10. Demonstrated experience with aspects of power plant operations and maintenance including mechanical, instrument and electrical systems and a working knowledge of power cycles;
11. Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently;
12. Strong aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability;
13. Ability to work in a high performance work system with minimum supervision.
14. Excellent communication and team skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office based applications, (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
15. Participate in and/or lead Human Performance, ABC, and root-cause analyses
16. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
17. Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder, and operate forklifts and man-lifts.
18. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form;

19. Demonstrate understanding of corporate environmental standards. Operate and maintain our facilities in compliance with standards as well as local, state, and federal regulations;
20. Have a strong commitment and be proactive toward safety;
21. Demonstrate fully proficient understanding of proper tool usage;
22. Perform as a first-responder, confined space technician, and fight fires at an incipient level;
23. Satisfactory results with respect to the background investigation pursuant to the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) requirements, if applicable;

Qualifications
Ability to be certified in CPR and First Aid
Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving standards
Excellent written and oral communication and team skills
Demonstrated experience in Project Management preferred

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent as required by the ANSI Standards

Other (including physical requirements, working conditions, etc.):
Must be able to pass fit for duty and drug screening tests
Work at heights and elevated platforms
May be exposed to high noise, heat and cold as well as inclement weather conditions
Ability to carry equipment weighing 40 lbs.
Must be able to work in confined spaces

POSITION SPECIFICS:
-This position may work rotating shifts and supports the necessary overtime requirements to ensure the plant reliability
-Must satisfy respirator qualifications Successful completion of the EEI Tech test.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
May be required to operate company vehicles and equipment such as JLGs and Cranes.
