Responsibilities
Please note that this position will be located in Petersburg, VA.

The Performance Assurance Engineer is responsible for the activities associated with Monitoring, Measurement & Verification, Operations & Maintenance, and Repair & Replacement for Commercial & Industrial and/or Federal sector energy services and energy asset projects. Performs or coordinates M&V, O&M, and R&R field activities, which may include field measurements, equipment testing and troubleshooting. Reviews project trend data and observes equipment operating conditions. Identifies and resolves project performance issues in a timely manner in order to ensure energy savings sustenance. Communicates with customers and subcontractors on a regular basis. Obtains information for and/or writes M&V plan, Post Installation, and Performance Period reports.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs a full cycle M&V activities which include but not limited to the development of M&V Plans for proposal responses and investment grade audits/detail energy audits submissions, writing post-installation and performance period reports by reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting trend data, performing and coordinating field activities, and timely communication with customers.
- Manages and resolves warranty issues as well as ensures that 3rd party subcontract maintenance obligations are performed in accordance with contract.
- Ensures that all project activities are completed on a timely basis.
- Provides periodic project status reports to management.
- Participates in customer site training at completion of equipment installation.
- Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors, which may lead to accidents.
- Performs other duties as assigned by M&V manager

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor¿s Degree from an accredited college in engineering and/or business related discipline and 5 years of relevant work experience in the HVAC or Energy Industry. Individual with experience and knowledge of implementing M&V, O&M/R&R Plans, and M&V Reporting for energy conservation projects is encouraged to apply.
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration, Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or LEED Accreditation preferred.

Technical/Job Skill Qualifications:
- Detailed knowledge of heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), energy management control systems (EMCS), central heating and cooling plants, electrical systems, solar systems, wind systems and process related systems in commercial, industrial, governmental, and hospital buildings.
- Demonstrated ability to implement activities associated with M&V, O&M/R&R Plans for complex energy conservation saving projects.
- Ability to manage vendors and subcontractors.
- Understanding of customer and subcontract agreements.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to clearly present and explain information to customers.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency on the use of computer-based applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and project database applications.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment (internal/external).
- Must possess valid driver's license.

Advantages Skills Set:

- Experience and proficiency to use the following instruments
a) Fluke Power Analyzer
b) Steam Traps/Infrared
c) Portable data loggers (Hobo etc)
d) Ultrasonic Flow Meter
e) 3-Phase Power Meter
- Detailed knowledge of complex energy conservation projects, renewable energy technologies
- Detailed knowledge of large prime movers such as combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, biomass and landfill gas facilities is advantageous
- Understanding of International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) and Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) M&V Guidelines
